IGNOU CIS Admission 2026: Admissions for the Certificate in Sericulture (CIS) program at Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) for the academic year 2026 will start soon. It is a 6-month short-term program that can extend up to 24 months.  Passing a 10th grade or having 2 years of experience in the field of sericulture from a Dept of Sericulture/ Extension/ Agriculture/Recognized NGOs is the basic requirement for pursuing CIS program from IGNOU.

There are no other requirements for this program, no entrance exam; admissions are based on merit score.  This program aims to provide village farmers, technicians, and youth with the scientific principles necessary to make sericulture a profitable business. INR 4,200 is the fee range of CIS program at IGNOU for the entire duration. The application procedure is fully online through the official website of IGNOU. At the time of filling the form, candidates need to pay an application fee of INR 300. Interested applicants must apply online before 30 April 2026*, as it is the last date.

  • No refund will be admissible after 60 days from the last date of IGNOU CIS admission.
  • Suppose your admission is confirmed, and you want to cancel it. In that case, you will be refunded the admission fee, and the university will refund the remaining 75% after a deduction of 15%.

Examination Pattern

The Certificate in Sericulture program follows IGNOU’s standard evaluation system. It includes two main components:

  • Assignments: You’ll need to complete and submit assignments for each course. These are like take-home tests that help you apply what you’ve learned. They usually make up 30% of your final grade.
  • After submitting the assignments, students have to prepare for their term-end examination. These term-end examinations are divided into two parts: June and December TEE. Term-end examinations carry a weightage of 70% of the student’s final grade.
  • Term-End Examination: At the end of the program, you’ll take exams for each course. These are typically held in June and December. The exams account for 70% of your final grade. They test your overall understanding of the sericulture concepts and practices.
  • Indira Gandhi National Open University has activated the online link for students to check the assignment, practical and project submission status online.

If you have skipped the examination for any reason, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) allows you to complete the course within a maximum of 2 years university conducts exams twice a year, and the candidate can complete in the next cycle.
